The lecturer in the Department of ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra, Dr. Naif Mohsen Aziz, participated in a scientific symposium entitled The Role of Solid Waste in Electrical Energy Production within the activities of the cultural festival on the occasion of World Environment Day, which was held in the Department of Environmental Technology and Pollution Engineering at the College of Engineering Technology at the Southern Technical University.

Participation included a lecture entitled Converting Waste into Energy: Technologies, Developments and Environmental Impacts.

The lecture included an explanation of some of the different technologies for converting waste into energy, explaining their advantages and disadvantages, the resulting emissions, their environmental impacts, and recent global developments in this field.
