The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized an electronic workshop on environmental pollution and climate change as part of a skills development program for graduate students.
The workshop, in which thirty graduate students from various Iraqi universities participated, aimed to introduce students to environmental challenges, mitigation strategies, adaptation policies, sustainability solutions, and the role of regulations in addressing global environmental issues.
The workshop, which was lectured by Dr. Nayef Mohsen Aziz, included an overview of different types of pollution, its sources and effects, and the causes and effects of climate change.
The workshop recommended building students’ analytical studies and critical thinking skills to develop effective, evidence-based policies and solutions to address pollution, the climate crisis, and concerns related to environmental justice.
