The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on descriptive statistics of environmental variables by applying the Excel program.

The workshop aimed to train graduate students on how to use Excel and enter data. The workshop, which was lectured by Dr. Makiya Muhalhal Khalaf Al-Hajjaj, included analyzing the data statistically by applying the Excel program to extract the arithmetic mean, median, mode, range of the data, standard deviation, variance, standard error, exponents and logarithms for any basis, and extracting roots.

The workshop recommended the necessity of training graduate students on how to apply various software programs in statistics to arrive at results in an accurate and rapid scientific manner.
