The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on the impact of environmental changes on the development of neighborhoods in the eastern Al-Himar marsh.

The lecture aimed to focus on the environmental factors that determine the presence and distribution of plant and animal groups.

The lecture, which was lectured by Dr. Najah Abboud Hussein and Mr. Adel Fadel Abbas, teaching staff in the Department of Ecology, included examining the environmental and health status of the East Hamar marsh and supporting scientific research related to continuous monitoring to provide reports simultaneous with the changes occurring in this environment.

The lecture recommended activating laws related to the management of water bodies and establishing awareness programs for local residents to ensure the survival of fish stocks, especially local species.
