A seminar at the University of Basrah discusses the sedimentology and stratigraphy of the Shiransh Formation in the city of Dohuko, Erbil, northern Iraq.

A seminar was held in the Department of Earth Science at the College of Science, entitled A Sedimentary and Stratigraphic Study of the Shiransh Formation in the city of Dohuko, Erbil, northern Iraq, by researcher Naisa Hassan Suw. The study included determining the sedimentary environments of the Shiransh Formation by studying the microfacies, identifying diagenetic processes, and determining the environments by studying the geochemistry of clay minerals with X-ray diffraction. In addition To confirm the environments by analysis of stable isotopes of oxygen and carbon and a stratigraphic study and their impact on the development of the sedimentary basin and changes in sea level. The results reached (the sedimentary environment of the region was summarized in four depositional environments, which are the slope, the Mil Toi area, the deep, and the deep.
