The University of Basrah organizes a seminar entitled (Estimation of Some Biochemical Markers in Obese Patients Associated With Type 2 Diabetes)

The College of Science at the University of Basra organized organized a seminar entitled of Estimation of Some Biochemical Markers in Obese Patients Associated WithType 2 Diabetes. By the graduate student Yusra Shakir Abdul Zahra. The study aimed to assess certain inflammatory and anti-inflammatory adipokines, as well as the levels of glucose, lipids, liver function, and blood pressure in diabetic patients. The study also addressed the prevalence of diabetes among obese individuals and used anthropometric measurements, in addition to biochemical and hormonal analyses, to determine the levels of adipokines: asprosin, resistin, cardiotrophin 1, neuregulin 4, and vitamin D. The study recommended addressing obesity as a preventive measure for diabetes and its management, as well as monitoring anthropometric measurements and blood pressure in individuals with diabetes and those at risk of developing diabetes, as it can have significant effects on their overall health and potential risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Also, conducting further research is necessary to elucidate the role of resistin in the pathological physiology of diabetes and its potential use as a predictive marker for diabetes complications
