The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (A study of the effect of active plant compounds on the survival of some opportunistic free radical amoebae Acanthamoeba spp.) by the graduate student Zainab Alaa Abdlbaki The study aims Investigate keratitis cases that are frequently misidentified as bacterial and fungal infections, as well as obtaining clinical isolates of the parasite in order to study its pathological effect in laboratory mice's eyes, skin, and brain ,Investigate the time of infection in the eyes and the likelihood of cure before developing brain infections, Carry out a time kill study for Moringa oleifera and Matricaria chamomilla plant extracts against Acanthamoeba spp. in vitro and in vivo and compare their activity with that of the commercial medication usually used for the AK infected eyes and skin treatment of mouse model. the study was recommended Because AK infections have clinical symptoms that are similar to those of viral, bacterial, and fungal infections and they are frequently misdiagnosed; thereby, laboratory identification of the specific pathogen is required, which leads to the implementation of successful therapy.Early treatment is essential because of the fatal nature of disseminated disease. We recommend a future study for merging the Moringa oleifera or Matricaria chamomilla plant extracts into the "contact lens solution" as an active sterilizer. We favored a future research to examine the toxicity of plant extracts on human epithelial cells (cell line). Assessment of histopathological study for the effect of this parasite on human tissue.
