a seminar on the environment and Astragalus prickly pear

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the environment and geographical distribution of the Astragalus spinosus plant in Basra

The seminar, which was lectured by graduate student Sarah Samir Yacoub, aims to determine the impact of environmental factors and climate changes on the germination, growth and geographical distribution of Astragalus thorns, with an indication of its current condition.

The workshop dealt with conducting laboratory experiments to find out the percentage of seed germination and the daily growth rates of plants.

The study recommended culturing Astragalus thistle and other desert shrubs in the laboratory and producing seedlings to revive the degraded natural areas, revive the desert, and establish natural reserves to protect the natural vegetation cover.
