The College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on (Production of Biosurfactants from some types of Actinobacteria and a study of its biological activity) for the postgraduate master's student Sakina Abdullah Habib
the study aims to conduct a survey of Actinobacteria isolated from the sediment and determine their ability to produce surfactant-reducing compounds. This study included (collecting samples from the sediments of the eastern Al-Hammar marshes, specifically in the district of Chibayish in Dhi Qar Governorate, isolating the Actinomycetes from them, testing their ability to produce Biosurfactants, and genetically diagnosing them using the16SrDNA gene, then extracting the product, conducting some chemical tests and testing its biological effectiveness.
The study recommended (that there is a need for further study to isolate new bacteria that produce surface tension-reduced compounds from different environments to obtain new types of products and study other activities of these compounds such as antiviral activity, anti-tumor activity, anti-adhesion and immune effect and the use of genetic engineering techniques to develop production Biochemistry of those compounds and further diagnostic testing to accurately determine the identity of the produced compounds.
