Discussion of a PhD thesis at the University of Basrah on (Qualitative and Quantitative Evaluation of the Health of the Drainage Basins in Missan, Southern Iraq)

The Department of Geology, College of Science, discussed a PhD thesis entitled (Qualitative and Quantitative Evaluation of the Health of Drainage Basins in the North of Maysan Governorate, Southern Iraq). The researcher Ammar Abdel-Khaleq Ali's thesis aims to study and define many morphometric characteristics of the water drainage basin for the purpose of knowing the water basin engineering and sustainable management of natural water resources, and the spatial and temporal assessment of the health of water basins through the combination between the study of the dryness index SPI and the RRV indicators within the framework Water resources, assessment and prioritization of basin health in terms of soil erosion and surface runoff.
The study included the use of rainfall data for the study area for the years (1981-2018) and the use of modern software and statistical methods to determine and study the drought index (SPI) and its use in determining the RRV indicators, which were used in determining the basin health index (WHI) for each study area and the study of soil erosion and surface runoff in Setting priorities for the health of drainage basins.
