The University of Basrah organizes a seminar entitled (Molecular detection of non-HLA genes in Celiac disease patients).

The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a final seminar entitled (Molecular detection of non-HLA genes in Celiac disease patients) by the the PhD. student Safaa Hussein Abdullah. The study aims to investigate the role of genetic polymorphisms of two genes controls T lymphocyte cells in celiac patients and included effects of this genes in circulating levels of CD autoantibodies and compared the sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value of  four CD serology tests. The study was recommended to includes the serologic tests for CD in the routine investigations for all first-degree relatives of celiac patients and patients with autoimmune diseases or with Iron deficiency anemia and identify the causative polymorphisims and CD predisposing, further detailed mapping and functional studies are recommended, this might lead to the development of novel non-invasive CD diagnostic tools, as well as the identification of new treatment targets for such genes that contribute to CD predisposion.
