The Department of Geology at the College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a scientific symposium entitled "The Concept and Controls of Electronic Extraction and How to Reduce Text Quotation Rates", which was delivered by the lecturer in the Department of Earth Sciences, Dr. Safaa Hussein Ali.

The symposium included several axes, the most important of which was defining the participants in the symposium with the concept of forensic science, its most important types, and how to examine research, theses, and university dissertations using the Turnitin program for detecting electronic forensics.

The symposium also included a discussion of inference ratios, text citation checking forms, and the most important instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding inference. As for the last axis of the symposium, the concept of quotation, its most important types, and how to avoid and reduce textual quotation rates were discussed, in addition to presenting some tools that help in rephrasing textual sentences.
