The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Hydrocarbons Pollution in Soil At Basrah City) by the graduate student Fadya Mushtaq Saleem. The study aims definition the soil pollution with hydrocarbon compounds and included un explanation of  hydrocarbon compounds, characteristics, types, sources, distribution in soil and their impact on the environment and living organisms, and review of some studies related on pollution by hydrocarbons in Basrah governorate.
