The University of Basrah organizes a seminar entitled (Algae in East Hammar Marsh)

The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Qualitative and Quantitative Composition of Algae in the East Hammar Marsh) by the graduate student Ebtehal Mussa Jaffer. The study aims to identify the physical and chemical nature of the study area and follow up on its Spatio-temporal changes during the different months to show their environmental and economic effects. The apparent impact these changes had on the environment, and then try to link these characteristics with the quality of the phytoplankton present and study the biodiversity of the phytoplankton community in the area. The study shows the relationship between diversity and the stability and health of the ecosystem and the study was recommended The study included measuring air and water temperature, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and nutrient in addition to recording 223 types of phytoplankton and recording five new species for the first time in Iraq. and the study was recommended The study recommended testing the ability of phytoplankton to withstand the levels of different pollutants and thus using them as life guides for this, in addition to increasing water releases from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to reduce salinity resulting from the entry of the Arabian Gulf waters into the Hammar Marsh through the Shatt al-Arab.
