A thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed (Biological, chemical, molecular and antioxidants of some medicinal plants of family Asteraceae).

the thesis of the researcher (Shams Muhammad Abdul-Rasoul) included use medicinal plants in the family Asteraceae as antioxidants, the definition of free radicals and their sources, The main chemical compounds of essential oils isolated and diagnosis  by GC-MS technique, the main chemical compounds was benzophenone, which is present in most of the studied species Molecular study using two primes ITS6 and ITS9 primer, there is a direct relationship between the stimulating effectiveness and the increase in the concentration of the studied essential oils.  The antioxidant study of species was evaluated through determined IC50 values by using DPPH, Artemisia herba - alba and Matricaria aurea recorded 6.8 μl / ml compared with vitamin E. also found relationships between chemical compounds and their genetic origins which proved their role as an antioxidant.
