The College of Science is organizing a seminar on evaluating the levels of some heavy metals.

The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar on the bioaccumulation of some heavy metals in fresh, frozen and canned fish species.

The seminar, in which the postgraduate student - Higher Diploma, Mortada Hamid Khafif, lectured, aims to diagnose the negative effects of these elements and the extent to which fish are capable of accumulating and storing them in their tissues and their impact on humans and other organisms.

The seminar recommended spreading environmental and health awareness among consumers and importers and providing them with instructions for transporting, storing and preserving fish, as well as continuous periodic monitoring of imported fish and conducting laboratory tests for them.
