The Biology department in College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Distribution, Sources and Human Risk Assessment of n- alkane and PAHs Compounds in Soil at Basrah City) by the graduate student Fadya Mushtaq Saleem. The study aims to assess the concentrations of hydrocarbon compounds and their distribution in Basrah city and to assess their danger to humans. The study included the collection and treatment of samples and how to extract hydrocarbons, in addition to measuring some of the physical and chemical properties of the soil. The study was recommended to improve the quality of fuel used in cars, increase green spaces and increase people's environmental awareness to preserve the environment.
