The University of Basrah discusses a seminar (Depositional properties of the formations of Mawdud, Ratawi and Southern Rumaila in southern Iraq)

The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Sedimentary properties of the Mawdud Formation in the fields of West Qurna 1, Ratawi and Southern Rumaila in southern Iraq). The seminar in which researcher Zainab Munther Abdel Wahab lectured aims to compare the sedimentary characteristics between the three fields through the facies distribution based on the description of the rock segments taken from the pulp and the study of the mineral composition and the effect of clay minerals on the facies and the sequential study of formation.
The study included the petrography of the formation based on thin slices and knowledge of the facies and their effect on the petrophysical properties of the formation and the study of the mineral composition of the formation and the effect of clays with drawing a stratigraphic column and a sedimentary model.
