The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra held a training course for the employees of the Basra Education Directorate within special lectures on the school environment.

The lectures were delivered by the department's lecturers, Dr. Nayef Mohsen Aziz, Dr. Wedad Mizban Taher and Inam Abdul-Amir Abdul-Hussein for a period of three days.

The lectures included an explanation of the most prominent challenges facing the environment today, most notably urban expansion, climate change and pollution, including noise pollution in the school environment, its causes and sources.

The lectures dealt with explaining the impact of agriculture and the environment on pollution in schools, methods of prevention, and the impact of the environment on the mental health of students.
