The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Trends And Future Applications of Biopolymers)
By the master's student Masouma Hilal Hwaidy and the purpose was to clarify Biopolymers produced by bacteria and their medical applications ,mean by Biopolymers are multiple molecules formed from many small size monomers that have been polymerized .It is produced from microbial sources and the possibility of making use of them and using various renewable raw materials.Leading to the emergence of cheap bioactive materials, including extracellular polysaccharides and polyester (bioplastic) example polyhydroxy alkonate  whose production is inside cells. Biopolymers that are used in medicine are characterized by certain properties as well as being non-toxic and have no side effects on human health, non-carcinogenic, non-coagulant and others.
These polymers are used
1-as antimicrobial :-
2-In dentistry, especially in the installation of fillings.
3-Orthopedic devices Bars, screws and screws
4-Sutures and adhesives that are biodegradable polymers that control drug delivery
5-tissue engineering
6-Physiological repair ,Some polymers stay in the body forever and some are temporary
