The University of Basrah discusses a dissertation defense Study effect of water stress in growth properties, enzymatic antioxidants levels , protein pattern and anatomical characterstics of date palm c.v Sayer and Hallawi.

A Ph.D. dissertation defense was discussed in the Biology department - College of Science at the University of Basrah entitled(Study effect of water stress in growth properties, enzymatic antioxidants levels , protein pattern and anatomical characterstics of date palm  c.v Sayer and Hallawi.
by the graduate student Ali Abdulrahman Fadhil and the number of its chapters five,  the study aimed to estimated the water requirements of date palm cv         "Al-Sayer and Al-Hallawi" and to determine the quantities of water that maintain productivity , quality ,  reduce drought stress, and avoid the accumulation of salts resulting from the lack of irrigation water, which causes a high level of salinity.
The study included effect of cultivar and irrigation treatments in date palm fruit development stages,  quality and quality attributes of the fruits and also emzymatic , non-enzymatic antioxidant levels, proteins and anatomical characterstics.
The study recommended on focusing of irrigation and the importance of estimating the water requirements  of the date palm and providing them in order to maintain the date palm trees and obtain good production and quality acceptable to the farmer and the consumer.
