The University of Basrah organizes a seminar on the impact of oil on two submerged plants

The College of Science , Ecology Department organized a seminar on the impact of oil on the biochemical and anatomical characteristics of two submerged plants. The seminar, attended by graduate student Rutaj Asaad Naji, aims to review the problem of oil pollution in Basra province and its effects on aquatic plants by studying some of the morphological, biochemical, and anatomical characteristics of two species of plants in the Shatt al-Arab River by exposing them in a laboratory experiment to a series of oil concentrations.

The seminar dealt with the mechanisms of collecting plants and processing them to perform tests and record the weekly response to the changes studied, as well as the seriousness of oil pollution incidents and their significant impact on the characteristics of water and thus causing significant problems for biota, including aquatic plants.
