Discussion of master thesis at the University of Basrah entitled Mineralogical and Geochemical variation of the sediments on the banks of Shatt AL-Arab and Shatt AL-Basrah rivers, southern Iraq

A Master thesis titled Mineralogical and Geochemical variation of the sediments on the banks of Shatt AL-Arab and Shatt AL-Basrah rivers, southern Iraq was defended at College of Science, Department of Geology for the postgraduate Candidate Amna Noori Ali the aim of the thesis is Determine the mineralogical component of the sediments (clay minerals, non-clay mineral, and heavy minerals and Geochemical study included the analyses of major and minor element oxides, trace elements, to determine the proportions of each of them, and then knowing the extent of the change in their ratios compared to the global concentrations  The study included the collection of 22 samples which were taken from the sediments of the banks of the Shatt al-Arab and Shatt Al-Basrah to conduct a grain size analysis and prepare selected samples to study mineralization using X-ray diffraction (XRD), heavy and light minerals analysis, in addition to geochemical analysis using X-ray fluorescence (XRF).
