Basra University organizes a panel discussion to study of suppressor of cytokines in asthma

College of Science mediaThe College of Science at the University of Basra joined a panel discussion on the study for study of suppressor of cytokines in asthma. graduate student (Master) Hanya Bachay Maktouf Al-Salihi. Objective of the study: Since asthma is a widespread disease in Basra, it is necessary to know the underlying mechanism and provide the best solutions for patients. The study aimed to know the role of SOCS1 gene and SOCS3 gene on the molecular level and their effect on the production of interleukins produced during an asthma attack, the study included tests for the blood serum of patients and healthy ones, including measuring the level of IgE and interleukin levels using  ELISA technique . Study of the polymorphism of the SOCS1 rs33989964 gene was done by RFLP-PCR. Measurement of SOCS3 gene expression using Real time-PCR . The study recommended to classify asthmatic patients in Basra according to the different cytokines produced during asthma attacks, as well as classify them according to the genotypes of SOCS1 and other types of SOCS in asthma, and to verify the gene expression of other SOCS proteins and their association with other cytokines, and to conduct detailed experiments on understanding the relationship between asthma and body mass index.
