The Geology Department of  College of Science at University of Basrah organized a scientific trip to the laboratories of Nahran Omar in the Basrah Oil Company for graduate students, for the Oil Group, to purpose of informing  about the core workshop and diagnosing the different facies of the geological formations containing oil, in addition to sampling  study wells for some master’s studentsfor taking samples of the core after obtaining the official approvals, the students were also briefed on the microscopic slides workshop and the chemical analysis laboratories, and the type of equipment used
