Discussion of PhD thesis at the University of Basrah entitled Synthesis ZnO Nanorods for UV and NO2 Sensing Application

A PhD thesis titled  Synthesis Undoped and Cu Doped ZnO Nanorods by Chemical Bath Deposition Method for UV and NO2 Sensing Application was defended at College of Science, Department of physics on )December 8, 2021), for the Ph.D. Candidate  Salah Mahdi Salih Al-Khazali.

The study aims to synthesis UV photodetectors and NO2 gas sensors based on ZnO NRs and improves their sensing properties by introducing Cu atoms into ZnO NRs besides using different substrates (hard and flexible) which might optimize the sensing properties by CBD method, in addition to studying the effect of annealing at different temperatures.

The study found, that the fabricated sensors have high photosensitivity to UV light, and good sensitivity towards low concentrations of NO2 gas at a low operating temperature.
