The College of science organized a seminar about preparation of a new series of sulfa-quinoline compounds

The Department of Chemistry, College of science organized a seminar about preparation of a new series of sulfa-quinoline compounds, presented by the M.Sc. Student: Raghad Jawad Kadhum.

The study consisted of two parts:

The first part included the preparation of a new series of sulfa-quinoline compounds from the reaction of quinoline derivatives with a series of sulfa compounds. The reactions were followed up with the technique of (TLC ) and these compounds were diagnosed by (FT-IR,H1 NMR,C13 NMR, Mass Spacta )and the biological activity was studied as an anti-cancer cell line ( MCF-7) and On the other hand, molecular docking results for the synthesized compounds using both MOE and Auto Dock Vina programs, showed thatCompounds QSC ,QSD, QSMBr ,QSMZ  and QSP displayed best affinity value among other compound (QST ,QSMT ) respectively and this confirmed with their experimental result.

While the other part of the study included the preparation of a lycand from the reaction of the quinoline derivative with thiocarbazide and the preparation of copper, cobalt and vanadium complexes from it,(QV,QCu ,QCo ) and then the diagnosis of these complexes using the technique of FT-IR ,ESI ,TGA ,Magnetic Sensitivity ,Molar Electrical Conductivity.
