The University of Basrah hold a seminar on Assessment of groundwater contamination risk in Nineveh plain, North of Iraq

A seminar entitled (Assessment of groundwater contamination risk in Nineveh plain, North of Iraq).  Hold at the College of Science, Geology Department. The presenter Ali Zain Al-Abdeen haidar demonstrates the most important objectives of is to develop an integrated platform to assess the groundwater contamination risk at Nineveh Plain using the concept of hazard, vulnerability, and groundwater value. The specific objectives include: Building a conceptual model of the aquifer system using available data with the help of Groundwater Modeling System (GMS) software.   Assessing the water balance with aid of climatic data and Watershed Modeling System (WMS) software. Evaluating the amount of groundwater recharge from rainfall by groundwater level fluctuation method. Evaluating the amount of storage in stock and renewable storage with the help of Groundwater Modeling System (GMS) software. Assessing the aquifer vulnerability using DRASTIC overlay simple approach.
