The University of Basrah organizes a seminar entitled (Nosocomial fungal infection)

The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Molecular and Epidemiological study of hospital acquired fungal infections prevalence in Basrah) by the graduate student Fouad Kadhim Obeed.  The study aims isolating and diagnosing pathogenic fungi  that cause nosocomial infection and included an explanation of the general definition of infections acquired in hospitals, where hospitals represent an environment rich in many pathogenic microorganisms or that can turn into a nurse, including fungi, as the discussion panel showed the ways of transmission of infection. The fungal diseases of patients and the factors that must be provided for their occurrence, as well as identifying the most important and most common pathogenic fungi in hospitals, and the most important virulence factors possessed by these nurses and helping them to cause various infections in patients hospitalized after 48 hours of their inactivity. The methods of diagnosing possible fungal infections that may occur in hospitals and the most important antifungals used to treat these cases were also discussed. The results of the study were also presented and the study was recommended Increasing the interest of health institutions in fungal infections and their diagnostic methods , with  selection of appropriate  antifungal for each infection according to  etiological agents
