The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease) by the Ph.d student Ekhlas Atiyah Khalaf.
The study aimed to investigate the immunological and genetic aspects of vitiligo disease.. and included the investigation the prevalence and significance of antinuclear antibodies ANA, high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in vitiligo patients and compared with healthy subjects, trying to identify other additional autoimmune diseases in vitiligo patients, and how to avoid its exacerbation in future. In addition to identify the percentages of circulating some types of lymphocytes with its miRNA genes functions in the immune system, and investigate the roles of miRNAs genes function in regulating signaling strength, homeostasis, and the dynamics of the immune response and tolerance during normal and pathogenic immunological conditions. And study its proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines profile of innate and adaptive immunity in vitiligo patients, and correlate them with clinical parameters, to evaluate its relationship with the severity of disease.
