A seminar entitled (Evaluation of pollution with heavy metals in the sediment core along the Shatt al-Basrah Canal and the diagnosis of modern molska in the sediments). Hold at the College of Science, Geology Department. The presenter Ruqayya Ali Hussein demonstrates the most important objectives of Determine of heavy metals (nickel, copper, nickel, zinc, chromium, cadmium, lead and iron) in sedimentary core samples in the Shatt al-Basra area, Classification of springs in sediment cores and the use of some of them as an indicator of heavy metal contamination
The study included measuring the pollution and bioaccumulation of some heavy metals in the streams and their concentration (lead, nickel, copper, chromium, zinc, cobalt, cadmium and iron) in the alternating and residual phase using an (ICP) device for labia sediments taken from six areas along the Shatt al-Basrah channel. .
The percentage of total organic carbon was also measured. The enrichment factor (EF), pollution factor (CF), geochemical index (I-geo), human factor (AF) and pollution/load index (PLI) were calculated for these heavy metals in the sediments.
