The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in coordination with the Continuing Education Unit in the College of Science/Earth Science Department, holds a workshop entitled Electronic Blackmail

The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in coordination with the Continuing Education Unit in the College of Science/Earth Science Department, organized an electronic blackmail workshop at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday and Thursday 4/24/25/2024. The workshop included awareness lectures delivered by: Mr. Colonel Fouad. Mohsir Jassim, Director of Trainer Preparation/Second Police College, and Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Karim Zayer Al-Mazani, teaching in the College of Education, Human Sciences/Human Development, and psychological advisor at the Jaafar Al-Tayyar Center for the Popular Mobilization Forces on the first day... and Dr. Saba Qasim Kalkhan, /Responsible of the Guidance Unit in the Department of Earth Sciences And Ms. Zahraa Hussein, a teacher in the College of Science, on the second day The workshop covered: defining electronic blackmail, the causes that lead to it, prevention of it, and how to act when a blackmail incident occurs. Several examples were mentioned of people who were subjected to blackmail, and how they were dealt with. Mr. Colonel Fouad stressed the need not to respond to the blackmailer, but to quickly report him when a case of blackmail occurs..and the necessity of securing accounts to prevent blackmail from occurring.. For his part, Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Mawzani explained the psychological effects that the crime of blackmail leaves on the victim’s psyche and stressed the necessity of seeking the help of the family. Or the person closest to solving the problem, and he mentioned several real-life examples where they had been subjected to blackmail.Ms. Zahraa explained how to secure mobile phone accounts by following easy and simplified steps that anyone can apply to their phone. In conclusion, Dr. Saba Qassem stressed to the students the necessity of cooperating with the guidance unit in the event that they are exposed to problems within the college, whether problems related to blackmail or others. While giving many tips and instructions to the students and opening the door to discussion on the topic of the workshop, hotline phone numbers were also displayed to deal with during the event. At the conclusion of the workshop, the head of the department (the respected Dr. Ali Khaled) praised the role of Messrs. Colonel Fouad and Dr. Abdul Karim, thanking them for responding to the department’s invitation and for the information and advice they provided on the topic of the workshop, wishing them success in carrying out their work to serve our society and our dear race.
